Some Useful Definitions


Backloading

Paying for space taken on a vehicle in one direction i.e. a return trip, or a load coming back from it's destination.

Offsider

Furniture removalist assistant, also known as jockey.

Pads

Felt blankets used to wrap furniture.

Hessian

Hessian cloth used to wrap items such as tools BBQ's and other soiled items.

Dump

A large bundle of Hessian

Standard

A carton or box similar in size to a Tea Chest.

Book/wine carton

A carton about half the size of a standard carton, used for packing books and other heavy items.

Port-a-Robe

A large carton designed to hang clothes in direct from the wardrobe for easy carrying.

Picture Pack

A carton designed for pictures or mirrors.

Straps

Large straps usually leather used in carrying pianos and other large items of furniture. Normally used for taking the item upstairs.

Coffee

Lifeblood of furniture removalist. ( They function a lot better with a plentiful supply).

Puss or snot

Please excuse these terms but they refer to items just left lying around the house that probably should have been packed into a carton before the removalist arrived.

Tailgate

Large board that drops down from the rear of the vehicle

Running board

Long board that connects to either the tailgate or the side door of a truck to assist in loading.
